The philosophy of Newport Classical Dance Center focuses on the idea that learning to dance should be a positive experience. We encourage students to reach for their goals, and along the way improve self-esteem, creativity and poise. We also emphasize proper dance technique, self-discipline, and personal improvement, and are committed to helping our student develop their fullest potential.
Classical Ballet:
A Traditional Ballet class including Barre and Center work using the French terminology for beginners through advanced. Our program incorporates the Cecchetti (Italian) and Vaganova (Russian) methods and emphasizes proper technique, placement, flexibility, strength and presence.
Pointe :
Prerequisite Ballet III/IV when a ballet student is mature enough (at least 11) strong enough, and technically skilled enough, they may begin Pointe work. Classes include barre, center and variations. Students must have teacher's approval.
Jazz :
Classical Jazz technique including warm-ups, strengthening and floor exercises, and choreography. The program incorporates many styles of current jazz dancing, covering genres from Broadway to hip-hop.
Tap :
Classic Tap technique classes begin with warm - up and progress with floor exercises and center combinations. Tap focuses on rhythm, musicality, and style.
Hip-Hop :
New Class!!! Come learn all the latest moves in this high energy class. Hip-hop begins with basic hip-hop warm-ups, progresses into strengthening and stretching exercises, and continues with dance combinations and routines that help to improve both memory, balance, rhythm, and coordination.
Lyrical :
Incorporating ballet, Jazz, and modern dance techniques, Lyrical explores movement in an expressive form. Music selection and "lyrics" determine the mood, and interpretation or choreography.
Princess Ballet :
Students will select a princess gown to wear and the princess theme is carried out throughout the ballet and Tap portions of the class.
Adult Ballet :

Adult Pilates :
Pilates is a method of body conditioning that is safe for everyone!
The class incorporates strengthening exercises that focus on core muscles to help improve muscle balance and alignment, balance e exercises for stability and posture, and stretching in order to improve flexibility.
